Film Concerts PH presents Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back In Concert featuring composer John Williams’ GRAMMY®-winning score performed live to the film. Fans will experience the scope and grandeur of this beloved film in a live symphonic concert experience led by conductor Gerard Salonga and Filharmonika Orchestra on August 30 & 31, 2025 at The Theatre at Solaire. Film Concerts PH first introduced Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert in September 2024, and now continues the saga with Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back In Concert.
Since the release of the first Star Wars movie over 45 years ago, the Star Wars saga has had a seismic impact on both cinema and culture, inspiring audiences around the world with its mythic storytelling, captivating characters, groundbreaking special effects and iconic musical scores composed by Williams.
The film and its RIAA® platinum-certified soundtrack feature seventeen score cues composed by legendary Academy Award® and GRAMMY® Award-winning composer John Williams.
The battle for the galaxy intensifies in this thrilling fifth episode. As Imperial Forces launch an all-out attack on the Rebel Alliance, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) flee to Cloud City where they are captured by Darth Vader. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) journeys to the mysterious, marshy planet of Dagobah, where the wise Jedi Master Yoda teaches the young hero the ways of the Force.
Little does Luke know that all his Jedi training will be called upon so soon. A stunning revelation – and a seeming life-or-death duel with Darth Vader – await.

ABOUT GERARD SALONGA & THE FILHARMONIKA ORCHESTRA
The Filharmonika Orchestra is the Manila based orchestra affiliated with Film Concerts PH. Founded by conductor Gerard Salonga in 2005, it has been restarted in 2024 after almost a decade-long hiatus. The orchestra consists of many players from the former ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, the last orchestra in the Philippines that Salonga led as Music Director up until 2020.
Gerard Salonga is currently Resident Conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in Kuala Lumpur, a position he has held since January 2019. For two seasons he served as Assistant Conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra from 2016 to 2018 where he was appointed by Maestro Jaap van Zweden, having been selected from a field of over 170 international applicants. He also served as Music Director of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra in Manila from 2012 to 2020. In January of 2021, Gerard began his term as the Music Director of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY).

In a career spanning more than six decades, John Williams has become one of America’s most accomplished and successful composers for film and the concert stage. He remains one of our nation’s most distinguished and contributive musical voices. He has composed the music for more than one hundred films, including all nine Star Wars films, the first three Harry Potter films, Schindler’s List, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Lincoln, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman and the Indiana Jones films. He served as music director of the Boston Pops Orchestra for fourteen seasons and remains their Laureate Conductor. He has composed numerous works for the concert stage including two symphonies and more than a dozen concertos commissioned by some of America’s most prominent orchestras. MOVIE SYNOPSIS
The rebels scatter after the Empire attacks their base on the ice planet, Hoth. Han Solo and Princess Leia are pursued by the Imperial fleet, while Luke Skywalker trains in the way of the Force with Jedi Master Yoda. Sensing his friends are in danger, Luke rushes to rescue them and finds himself confronting Darth Vader, who reveals a shocking truth.
