Namkoong Min stars as the titular 'Husband', a successful doctor whose wife disappears the day after he asks for a divorce.
Asking for a divorce is already complicated. Asking for a divorce, then having your wife disappear the very next day, is the kind of problem that immediately stops being personal and starts looking criminal.
That is the setup for The Husband, a new Korean crime thriller streaming on Disney+ beginning July 4. The series centers on a marriage that has fully collapsed, then turns that domestic breakdown into a mystery where timing, motive, and suspicion all point in one very dangerous direction.
The story follows Taeju and Seyun, whose relationship started as a marriage made in heaven before slowly falling apart. After years of arguments, resentment, and emotional damage, Taeju finally reaches the end of the line. He decides to call it quits and asks Seyun for a divorce, hoping to end a relationship that has become too broken to repair.
Then Seyun goes missing.

For Taeju, the timing could not be worse. His wife disappears under suspicious circumstances just one day after he asks to leave the marriage, instantly making him the person everyone wants to question. What might have been the beginning of a painful separation becomes something much darker, as Taeju suddenly finds himself trying to evade the police while also attempting to rescue the estranged wife he had just asked to divorce.
Namkoong Min stars as Taeju, a successful neurosurgeon whose life unravels after Seyun disappears. Suddenly, he becomes the obvious suspect: a husband who had just asked for a divorce, armed with motive, terrible timing, and a troubled marital history. As the investigation intensifies, Taeju must navigate growing suspicion while trying to uncover what really happened to his wife.
Jeon Yeo-been plays Seyun, the driven chairperson of the hospital whose disappearance sets the story in motion. But she is more than just the missing person at the center of the case. Her strained marriage, leadership role at the hospital, and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance all become key pieces of the mystery. Jeon Hye-jin also stars as Seol, Seyun’s assistant.
The series is directed by Kim Junghyun, whose previous credits include Hyper Knife and Crazy Love, and written by Jung Jaeha. Blending marital conflict, police suspicion, and a missing-person investigation, The Husband builds its suspense around a straightforward question: what happened to Seyun, and what does Taeju really know?
The Husband also joins Disney+’s growing lineup of Korean crime and thriller titles. Fans looking for more Korean suspense on the platform can also find titles such as Gold Land, Made in Korea, and The Manipulated, each built around crimes, secrets, and people trying to survive the consequences of being pulled into something bigger than themselves. For viewers who enjoy Korean thrillers built on messy relationships, bad timing, and the feeling that every character is hiding something, The Husband looks ready to deliver exactly that.
The Husband streams on Disney+ starting July 4.
