Yim Si-wan and Seorina Turn Suspicion Into Romance in Prime Video's "LOVE IN DISGUISE"

A murder investigation gets a lot more complicated when the detective assigned to the case starts falling for her suspect.
Prime Video’s new Korean series “Love in Disguise” stars Seorina as Kang Jae-hee, a former special forces officer turned police detective who disguises herself as a man to infiltrate the security team of Yoon Yi-jun, a wealthy chaebol heir played by Yim Si-wan who has become a murder suspect.
As Jae-hee gets closer to Yi-jun, their relationship begins shifting from suspicion to something much harder to ignore. Yi-jun has no idea that his personal bodyguard is actually a woman, creating a mix of romance, comedy, misunderstandings, and danger as the investigation continues.
Yim Si-wan described Yi-jun as a different kind of chaebol character, with his glamorous appearance hiding a much lonelier and more vulnerable side. The actor said he focused on the character’s past and the pressure of growing up with a life that had already been decided for him.
Seorina, meanwhile, underwent a physical transformation for Jae-hee, cutting her hair short for the role. Rather than simply imitating masculine mannerisms, she said she focused on understanding who Jae-hee is underneath the disguise and how deeply committed the character is to her work.
That disguise also becomes one of the series’ main romantic hooks. Yi-jun begins developing feelings for Jae-hee without knowing her true identity, giving their relationship what Seorina described as a journey “from suspicion to trust.” She also teased a reversal of familiar romance dynamics, with Jae-hee frequently taking the lead in protecting Yi-jun.
The series also features a second romance between Kim Jung-hyun and Yeonwoo. Kim plays lawyer Kim Si-hyun, Yi-jun’s close friend, while Yeonwoo plays Lee Hye-jung, secretary to the chairman of Taekang Group. Director Park Dhan-hee described their story as a more passionate and mature romance, offering a contrast to the playful dynamic between the leads.
Beyond romance, “Love in Disguise” blends comedy, action, mystery, and emotional drama. Park said the challenge was finding a way to bring all those genres together while allowing the four central characters, each carrying secrets and wounds of their own, to collide, fall in love, and eventually help one another heal.
The series is based on the web novel “Why Don’t You Know It’s a Girl?,” which has accumulated more than 8.15 million views on Kakao Webtoon.
“Love in Disguise” premiered October 19 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, with new episodes available weekly.
