October 2026 Is Absolutely Loaded: “DIGGER”, “STREET FIGHTER”, “CLAYFACE” and More Hit Cinemas

October 2026 is shaping up to be a packed month at the movies, with everything from Tom Cruise and Alejandro G. Iñárritu to a new “Street Fighter,” DC horror, Jane Austen, and a spiritual successor to “The Social Network” heading to cinemas.
Kicking things off on October 2 is “Digger,” the latest film from Academy Award-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Tom Cruise leads an ensemble that includes Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Robert John Burke, Emma D’Arcy, Burn Gorman, and Sophie Wilde. The film follows the most powerful man in the world as he launches a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before a disaster of his own making destroys everything.

October 7 brings two very different releases. Aaron Sorkin returns to the world of social media with “The Social Reckoning,” an original screenplay positioned as a companion piece to “The Social Network.” Mikey Madison stars as Facebook engineer Frances Haugen, who enlists Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, played by Jeremy Allen White, to expose some of the social network’s most closely guarded secrets. The cast also includes Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong.

Also opening October 7 is “Other Mommy,” a new horror film starring Jessica Chastain, Jay Duplass, and Arabella Olivia Clark. Directed by Rob Savage, the filmmaker behind “Host” and “The Boogeyman,” the movie follows a young girl named Bela who forms a relationship with a sinister entity inside her home that looks disturbingly similar to her own mother. James Wan is also involved with the project, bringing another major horror name into the mix.

Then comes one of the month’s biggest swings. “Street Fighter” arrives October 14, bringing Capcom’s fighting franchise back to the big screen with director Kitao Sakurai. Set in 1993, the film follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters as Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. What initially appears to be a brutal competition soon reveals a larger conspiracy that forces the pair to confront one another as well as their pasts. The massive ensemble includes Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, David Dastmalchian, Eric André, 50 Cent, Jason Momoa, and more.

DC Studios gets its turn on October 21 with “Clayface.” Tom Rhys Harries stars as Matt Hagen, whose rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man is violently derailed after a crime boss leaves him horribly disfigured. A cutting-edge treatment restores his appearance, but the procedure also begins affecting his grip on reality and sends him down a path of revenge. James Watkins directs a cast that also includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James.

Closing out the announced lineup on October 28 is a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility,” opening exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles lead Georgia Oakley’s take on the classic story of love and sisterhood, alongside Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay, and Fiona Shaw.
From the absurd scale of “Digger” and the long-awaited return of “Street Fighter” to the body horror of “Clayface” and a fresh spin on Austen, October offers a theatrical lineup that jumps across genres without much downtime between major releases.
